EDP: how Stratws automated indicator tracking
See how EDP automated tracking of over 400 indicators and moved off spreadsheets with Stratws, Siteware's management platform.
Before Stratws, EDP already had a goal system, but it ran on spreadsheets, with employees notified by email about their part in filling it in. Today, over 400 indicators are updated directly by whoever owns each one, within a set deadline.
EDP Brasil is a power distributor with more than two decades in the market, awarded by ABRADEE in 2017. The company is a subsidiary of Portugal’s Energias de Portugal and operates in the states of São Paulo and Espírito Santo.
What challenges did EDP face before Stratws?
EDP needed to automate its internal goal tracking. Before, it ran on spreadsheets, with manual email reminders for each employee to enter their numbers.
With over 400 indicators in total, that manual process made the work complex and error-prone.
How did Stratws join EDP’s indicator management?
During rollout, Siteware adapted the goal intervals to the naming EDP already used and customized the scorecard to make the tool easier to use. Rafael Corrêa, Organizational Development Analyst at EDP, saw more maturity from those filling in indicators: with spreadsheets, control and commitment were lower.
Data collection stopped being centralized: each indicator got an owner responsible for its own update, within a deadline tied to the monthly results meeting. Once the deadline passes, the system locks entry, and new data only goes in with an email justification to the administrators.
What results has EDP seen with Stratws?
With the system running for just three months, EDP had already saved hours of results management. On the old spreadsheets, according to Rafael, the number would change minutes before the presentation, which disrupted the workflow.
Today it’s possible to identify who misses a deadline and who makes a calculation error. Before, that control sat with two employees, who took the blame for errors that the lack of control made impossible to trace.
EDP also automated its email fill-in reminders. The company went on to build an internal presentation explaining how the system works, which cut training down to answering specific questions.
EDP’s experience shows what changes when hundreds of indicators stop depending on spreadsheets and manual chasing. Each one gets an owner, a deadline, and a trail in a single system.
