What is the Stratws AI connector (MCP) and how to use it in your management

Artificial intelligence is part of the routine for anyone managing people, goals, and results. Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity AI, and other tools are within reach for a quick question, drafting text, or organizing the day’s priorities.

The problem is that this AI can’t see the real data behind your management routine: this month’s indicator, the action plan that’s behind schedule, or the goal that didn’t close.

That’s why Siteware brought another capability to Stratws: you can now connect the AI you already use to the platform through the Stratws AI connector (MCP).

Instead of opening the system, checking an indicator, copying it into a spreadsheet, and only then discussing the result with your team, you ask the AI and get Stratws’ structured data already cross-referenced with the context of your conversation.

This isn’t a new chat inside Stratws. It’s the opposite: Stratws becomes available inside the AI tool you already use, whether to check an indicator or understand why a goal was missed.

In this article, we explain how MCP works, walk through examples, and show you step by step how to connect it safely.

What is the Stratws MCP?

For Stratws users, AI access runs through a standard called MCP, short for Model Context Protocol. It’s an open standardopens in a new tab, created by Anthropic, that lets an AI, such as Claude, access a system’s structured data directly through conversation.

Different AI and software providers have already adopted MCP as a common way to connect language models to real business data. Siteware built its connector under this same standard to bring Stratws into artificial intelligence.

In practice, you can pull any information from Stratws through this connector, saving time on management and results analysis.

Why does this change your routine?

The main gains from using Stratws with AI are time and management intelligence.

That intelligence comes from the meeting of two things that don’t usually meet: on one side, Stratws’ structured data, like an indicator’s calculation, the action plan, and indicator updates. On the other, the context already in your conversation, like your team’s history or the subject of a meeting.

Say a strategic indicator dropped. Cross-referencing Stratws’ structured data with the context of your conversation, the AI connects the drop to the historical series, how the calculation is built, and the overdue tasks in the related action plan.

It’s the same kind of reading that supports performance indicator analysisopens in a new tab as a core management step, just now available through conversation.

What can you already do?

Once you connect Stratws’ MCP, you can:

  • ask how an indicator looks this month without opening the platform;
  • understand how an indicator’s calculation is built;
  • get the list of overdue tasks in an action plan, with the status of each one and a direct link to the record in the system;
  • check 1:1 topics, meeting agendas, and notes recorded on the platform;
  • see which feedback templates are active before writing one; and
  • log or update indicator values directly through conversation.

How to connect your AI to Stratws?

Connecting your AI to Stratws and asking, through conversation, for what today requires opening the platform, is the first step. From there, Stratws’ structured data crosses with the context you already have in the conversation, and the answer stops being just a number: it becomes a full analysis.

If you use Claude, the setup is simple:

  1. go to Settings > Connectors in claude.ai.
  2. click the “+” button and select “Add custom connector.”
  3. paste the Stratws MCP server address in the field and click “Add.”
  4. log in with your Stratws account when prompted. This step runs through the OAuth protocol, directly on the Stratws screen: Claude never has access to your password, only to the permission you grant.
  5. in any conversation, turn on the Stratws connector through the “+” button in the chat, under “Connectors.” After that, just start the conversation normally.

If your company uses Claude on the Team or Enterprise plan, the first step changes slightly: only the workspace Owner can register the Stratws connector in the organization’s settings. After that, each team member logs in and authenticates with their own Stratws account.

Since AI platforms update constantly, these steps may vary, but the setup stays intuitive for anyone already used to it.

In the video below, see how to connect Stratws’ MCP to ChatGPT:

Frequently asked questions

Is it safe to use Stratws with AI?

Yes. The AI sees and acts exactly within what you already access on the platform, with the same permissions, the same required fields, and the same validations. The audit trail stays tied to whoever made the request, and permissions are respected even inside the calculation itself.

Does using Stratws with AI replace the chatbot already on the platform?

No, they're different things. The chatbot runs inside Stratws, with a knowledge base about management and the platform. The AI connector, on the other hand, brings Stratws into the AI tool you already use day to day, as part of the same conversation you're already in.

Can you already update indicators and tasks using Stratws with AI?

Yes. The connector lets you log and check indicators, understand calculation structures, track overdue tasks, action plans, problem solutions, 1:1s, feedback, and more.

Which AI tools is the Stratws connector available on?

Right now, the Stratws AI connector (MCP) is available for ChatGPT and Claude. Other AI tools are in the process of being certified.
